International Poster Biennale in Warsaw

The POSTER BIENNALE in Warsaw is the oldest and most prestigious poster competition in the world. The first Biennale took place in 1966. The man who inspired the project and was its first organizer was professor of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw - Jozef Mroszczak. Biennale soon grew into the most important artistic event. The names of the most outstanding artists have been connected with it - as participants, winners, jurors and friends, including: Andy Warhol, Hiroshi Tanaka, Kazamusa Nagai, Hans Hilman, Pierre Bernard, the GRAPUS Group, Shigeo Fukuda, Ikko Tanaka, Uwe Loesch, Milton Glaser, Paul Davis, Andre Francois, Mitsuo Katsui, Andriej Logvin, Aleksander Faldin and Polish artist: Cieslewicz Roman, Lenica Jan, Mlodozeniec Jan , Swierzy Waldemar , Starowieyski Franciszek, Tomaszewski Henryk. The International Council of Associations of Graphic Designers (ICOGRADA) is its patron, which is founding an Biennale Excellence Award. Since 1994 the Poster Biennale has been located in the Poster Museum at Wilanow.  Presently the Museum possessed one of the largest collections of posters in the world, consisting of over 55,000 items.
